Black
Americans have had a tough time in the USA over the years, but big steps have
been made over the last 100 years. The first African-American college to
graduate in the USA was Alexander Lucius Twilight in 1823. He was studying in
the days before there were essay writing services and www.topreviewstars.com to give him a hand. He
studied in Middlebury College and was the first black man to receive a B.A.
degree in the USA.
Sadly,
he is not as well remembered as other trailblazers, but his achievement marked
yet another milestone in the progress of black Americans from oppression to
genuine opportunity and freedom within the country. He was born a free man on
September 23, 1795, Corinth, Vermont, United States and died June 19, 1857,
Brownington, Vermont, United States.
